Derek Jeter
Sportsman of the Year. The name alone signifies what is right with baseball. he may be one of very few superstars in the baseball world that has never really had any bad publicity. i hate the yankees, but i am happy to see someone i regard as one of the best all around players of my generation really get the respect he deserves. he has never been linked to them outside of teamates admitting use. i think all athletes should strive to be more like him, than maybe Chad 8 5, or A-Rod. he has earned everything he has gotten.
New Technologies
With the internet, it is easy to find out how people really feel about things on a day to day basis. for athletes the internet is a way to market their name, but also a way for athletes to get into a lot of trouble. the new show Sportsnation on ESPN is a show aimed at what the public thinks. it is based on internet surverys people take regarding news stories in the sports world. this is the best way to find out not what the entire national population thinks, but what true sports fans think. that is why conventional polls on steroid use in sports are not hte best way to find out what people think. if someone is not a sports fan, why would they have an opinion about what athletes do?

Baseball Playoffs
The baseball playoffs started today, and some of the biggest names associated with steroids are playing. Those being Manny, Papi, and A-Rod. It is kind of funny all three are the best players on their respective teams when it comes to hitting, or they usually are, and all are being celebrated on TV. Why are Americans so quick to forget that they all have cheated?
Roger Clemens
In a poll i found recently, Roger Clemens was the topic. 57% of those polled thought he was lying when it came to his use of steroids, while only 31% thought he was telling the truth about his testimony and denial. This topic is not very hot right now because no one in the past few months has been suspected of doping or caught doing it.

The best of the best
I am glad to say that two of the best players, and one that may be the poster boy of baseball have both achieved great records without the slightest hint of the use of steroids. I am clearly talking about Jeter and Ichiro. I may hate the Yankees but I have to respect him. He is the all time leader in hits as a Yankee, and Ichiro just passed 2,000 career hits. Both without any help other than natural talent. I could not be happier for either of them, mostly because they have used their god given talents and nothing else. this should be a lesson to all kids every where, you do not have to cheat to achieve great things.

Pete Rose in the clear
In a recent poll i saw, 79% of people said that using PED's was worse than betting on baseball. Almost 16% of people thought they were equally as bad, but if someone can get banned from baseball for life for betting shouldn't they be banned for something people think is worse?

Introduction
My name is E. Kipp, and i have created this blog as part of a research project i will be conducting this year. I am a senior Politics major at Illinois State University, and i wish to one day be directly involved in the sports world. I am a die hard Cubs fan, but overall a huge fan of the game of Baseball. I have created this to talk about the way PED's have all but destroyed the game I grew up playing, and the game I love.
